Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves increased sharply by $1.945 billion on a weekly basis to $23.989 billion as of July 3, 2026, driven by a significant rise in the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) holdings.
According to the latest data, the SBP’s foreign exchange reserves climbed to $18.471 billion, compared with $16.527 billion recorded a week earlier, reflecting a weekly increase of $1.944 billion.
Meanwhile, the reserves held by commercial banks remained largely stable at $5.518 billion, marginally higher than $5.517 billion in the previous week.
As a result, Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves reached $23.989 billion, up from $22.044 billion a week ago, registering a weekly increase of $1.945 billion.
The substantial improvement in the SBP’s reserves is expected to strengthen the country’s external position, provide support to the Pakistani rupee, and enhance investor confidence by improving import cover and external liquidity.
